Fourth of July Food

It seems to me that, not unlike Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July requires certain foods. Corn on the cob, bbq, and potato salad are the core items. This year our picnic got monsooned out, and once the power came back on, we took our picnic to the dining room table. There was bbq chicken (for me), tofu squares (for the veggies), potato salad, corn on the cob (which, alas, was ungood), a chopped caprese salad (tomatoes, fresh mozz., lots of basil, and a drizzle of olive oil), carrots, and fresh buttermilk biscuits. Dessert was yummy and huge red, white, and blue cookies, and also one of my favorites--strawberries lightly dipped in sour cream and then dipped into brown sugar. Plain or even vanilla yogurt would work too ... it's just so good. Our quart of fabulous organic strawberries disappeared quickly!
