Malted Milk Pancakes

I found this recipe online and decided to try it. The end result? They tasted like, well, pancakes--and pancakes are always good, so that's not bad, but they didn't taste different either. Maybe I need to spend more time in diners to see if these have the "classic diner" taste that the recipe intended. Anyone want to come with? It was a good project for a hurricane-rainy morning in any case.
