Cheddar-Apple Cornmeal Scones

Cheddar-apple cornmeal scones based on a recipe in the March issue of Child. The cornbread turned out too oniony--those were pow'rful green onions and have been relegated to crouton status or stuffing, should I ever make it--so I made these instead, using half cornmeal and half flour instead of all flour.
